We have a number of committees dedicated to carrying this mission forward. Whether you have developed skills to share or you wish to learn new ones, you are invited to join us.

Each year, AFP San Diego hosts audio conferences produced by AFPI. These varied and timely presentations offer something for the seasoned fundraiser or someone new to the field; large shop or the development department of two. This committee coordinates the monthly presentation and facilitates the post-conference discussion.

The Communications and Public Relations Committee is a dynamic committee that manages the Chapter’s internal and external communication efforts with members, affiliates, the media and the general public. They are tasked with developing the electronic and print materials used to publicize chapter events, educational programs and other activities that reinforce and enhance AFPSD’s stature as the leading voice on fundraising.

Today’s philanthropist can belong to a number of communities, each with it’s own distinct set of interests and concerns. Our ongoing commitment is to foster a diverse membership of individuals representing all types of community benefit organizations and non-profits. This committee needs individuals that can assist the Diversity Chair reach out to the community and bring new constituents into the association.
EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The committee coordinates the selection and recruitment of speakers for the Chapter’s monthly membership meetings and workshops. By joining this committee, you will have a role in producing all of the educational programs of the Chapter, including the luncheons, workshops and audio conferences.
GOVERNMENT RELATIONS COMMITTEE

The role of the committee is to keep the Chapter informed of government activities and regulations that affect our membership and their organizations. When opportunities arise, the Government Relations Chair brings to the Board suggestions for advocacy activities appropriate for members, such as writing letters to public officials.

Mentoring is a direct person-to-person sharing of knowledge and expertise and it’s one of AFPSD's most valuable services. Come on board and help the Mentorship Chair recruit new mentors and mentees while supporting those already in the program.
NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY COMMITTEE
All hands on deck! The production of National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is no small feat. Each year a group of committed individuals come together to coordinate this special celebration of philanthropy in San Diego. Whether you are a seasoned special events coordinator or someone who wants to learn some of the tricks of the trade, we need you around the table!

The committee’s role is to support senior professionals through value-added AFP related initiatives, promote philanthropy in the community and cultivate strong links with peers.
